Codes for Connoisseurs

Written by Michael Whittington

“I only drink the finest champagne from the French vineyard of Big Fancy Foreign Words.” These may sound like the words of a wine connoisseur (and a pretentious one at that), but to me it sounds like the type of person who could really benefit from a mobile marketing platform like QR codes. I’ll admit: I believe the Guinness QR code glass is a bust, but it isn’t the only example the blossomed romance between mobile marketing services and the beer and wine industries. This week I’d like to delve into some mobile marketing campaigns being done right.

Advertising & Art: The Shift in Mobile Marketing Trends

Written by Michael Whittington

An article found in last week’s Business Week accounts for 29 year old Michael Hellesen who scans QR codes any chance he gets. However the fantasy that the mobile marketing blogs have created, complete with smartphone-toting money savers and their stock photo model smiles, was not present. Hellesen is not scanning codes to cut his grocery bill or discover a new band. He’s scanning them because he thinks they’re interesting. Mr. Hellesen should be commended for his passion, but his outlook is concerning. “I’m not expecting anything useful,” he said in the interview with Business Week, “about 80% of the time I’m disappointed that I scanned it.”

Mobile Media Marketing Mini Message Mix Madness

Written by Michael Whittington

Top 5 Father’s Day Gifts Compatible with Mobile Marketing Software

Written by Michael Whittington

Well… I wrote a mobile marketing blog up for the moms on Mother’s Day, so it’s only fair the dads of the world get some attention and recognition too now that Father’s Day is upon us. I never know what to get my father for any holiday. I tried getting him stuff I thought he’d use, like a novelty chess set. It’s still in the box. Then I started getting him gift cards so he can buy something himself. He ended up using them to buy presents for other people. Fortunately, mobile marketing advertising is using QR codes to make shopping this year a bit easier. Watchmaker Kenneth Cole has a QR code on its latest print ad (talk about mobile marketing watch). However, QR codes have not only invaded mobile marketing advertising this father’s day. They’ve also become the gifts themselves. That’s right: this year you can tell dad you love him by having him take a picture with his mobile marketing software. Get the festivities started by printing a free QR code card. As for the present, there is a lot to choose from as far as mobile marketing goes. If you were my son or daughter, here is a list of the top five gifts you could convince your mom to buy me and put your name on that would keep me from shipping you off to work in a sweatshop.
